FREE BOOKS!!

It is exciting to kick off Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation’s 2024 K-3 Home Library program. For the last four years, we have been honored to partner with districts and charter schools across Tennessee to mail elementary school students six books and

accompanying student and caregiver resources during the summer months. Last year, these book packs reached over 200,000 students and more than 11,000 educators and librarians in all 95 Tennessee counties. 

In partnership with the State of Tennessee and Scholastic, GELF will ship book packs to all Tennessee rising first-third grade students, teachers, and librarians. The book packs, shipped in May 2024, contain six books, a Caregiver Connections guide,

and Thinksheet activity resources with a QR code linking additional virtual resources and extension activities for home and school! In 2024, All student and caregiver materials are produced in English with Spanish on the reverse.

K-3 Home Library books are selected and all resources are prepared by GELF's Educator Advisory Council,

a group of 28 Tennessee educators, literacy specialists, and school district administrators,

to encourage engagement with the books and resources at home and school.
