Tennessee Set to Begin Summer EBT Distribution for the 2023-24 Academic School Year

Posted Date: 05/20/2024

The Tennessee Department of Human Services and The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service, in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Education, launched the Summer EBT Program for the 2023-24 academic school year.   Summer EBT is a new supplemental nutrition benefit program that provides families a one-time lump sum of $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out.

Parents can now submit a Summer EBT Application to establish eligibility for children not uploaded by schools/districts. Students are eligible for this benefit if they meet the 2023-24 school year reduced-price lunch income thresholds before July 1,2024 and the 2024-25 school year reduced-price lunch income thresholds on and after July 1, 2024.

Parents can use this link to submit an online application and to submit changes. Link: onedhs.tn.gov/parent

The application window will close on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. CST. Parents who apply in May can expect benefits in mid to late June and early July. The Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) will issue benefits on a rolling basis afterwards. DHS will review applications within 15 business days. Parents can call 1-833-772-8347 if they encounter any issues while submitting their application.
